Working from home is a privilege
When bringing up that I work from home, people often suggest open office spaces and ways for me to meet others at work.
They feel sorry for me and assume I’m lonely.
It’s understandable. I used to think the same, that escaping the office was social suicide.
Then came a year of covid with the whole world working from home. It became a revelation; the benefits of working remotely outweigh the drawbacks.
Today, I see it as a privilege.
I enjoy the time of solidity. Being alone allows me to focus, get into a flow and do deep meaningful work without disturbance. That’s fulfilling and makes me happy.
Social time is essential. Time with co-workers and collaborators. Time with family and friends. Time with training buddies at the gym. Time for offline adventures.
Gone are the days of spending 1.5 hours commuting to work every day and long days at the office, leaving me slammed on the sofa in the evening.
Working home allows keeping in touch with MORE people and getting MORE s*** done.
