I’m worried about climate change like most people, but knowing how to make a major impact is the challenge.

It was inspiring to see startups at Iceland Innovation Week coming new solutions to turn the tide.

A whole industry is being born around neutralizing carbon. Bigger companies have started to adjust their carbon usage, so there is an actual business case for startups in the space. A way to hack capitalism, as hinted by David Helgason of Transition Labs.

It was also interesting to hear Smári McCarthy talk about how awareness, or a lack thereof, is a major challenge. Most people don’t understand the scale of the issue, so it needs to be backed up with actual data and presented in digestible ways.

That got me thinking about the project we did with UNDP, where we presented climate change data and other world issues engagingly for young people of Sweden.

Each and every one of us can also improve things in our daily lives.

This conference about climate change is called “OK bye”. OK was a glacier in Iceland that sadly melted away a few years ago. OK bye was part of Iceland Innovation Week, which I recommend anyone to check out next year.
