Humans leading AI to extinction
What went down at Open AI?
It seems that the board was totally misaligned with the company.
It’s an unusual setup where the board is part of a non-profit parent company, and they wanted to slow things down.
However, Open AI is a for-profit company, 49% owned by Microsoft and some employees have shares — so obviously they want to move fast and seize the major market opportunity with generative AI right now.
So goals were misaligned and people disconnected.
What’s ironic is that people thought AI would lead humans to extinction, while humans almost led the main AI company to extinction.
Fortunately, things are being sorted out, and it seems Open AI will be back to normal soon.
