Apple Vision Pro finally supports WebXR by default
This announcement slipped under the radar.
Huge news for web developers and immersive tech enthusiasts.
Safari 18 on Apple Vision Pro now supports WebXR sessions by default.
You can now deliver fully immersive experiences directly on the web to users of Apple Vision Pro. This update brings hardware-accelerated graphics powered by WebGL right into the XR browser.
WebXR support in Safari was previously hidden behind a feature flag, but now it’s open for everyone.
The implementation includes the transient-pointer specification, enabling secure gaze-based pointer interaction.
Kudos to Apple's Webkit team for making this leap forward in immersive web experiences.
The future of VR on the web just got a lot brighter!
